Ok. Thanks to all of y'all. I will try to find a husky related forum and try to train her this summer. Smile

I can tell you from experience that huskies are not for the average joe dog owner. Being so closely related to the wolf makes them very independent and down right stubborn at times. Prey drive in these animals are high because of it as well. They need lots of room and exercise as well as training. A job helps keep their minds occupied whether it be simple as playing games or pulling a dog sled. That is what they were bred to do....work and run. A lot of dog owners forget the breeds intended purpose.

Silvers had a good idea. Find a husky related forum. If anything perhaps they can assist you in finding ways to keep her occupied...or perhaps help you find her a good home.

I have to agree with Henda on some things - huskies are extremely active dogs, so they need lots of entertainment and energy-spending activities. They're the kind of dog that need a lot of mental stimulation - something even like putting a treat in a Kong toy and leaving them to figure it out like a puzzle is excellent brain work. They're born to run and born to work, so try exercising with her alone, like going for a jog or something together. It's a problem that can be fixed, it just takes time, patience, and effort Smile

But, if you find that you don't have the time, patience, or effort for this, be sure you mention her hyperactivity to any potential owners. If you are to give her away, always keep in mind her best interests, not so much yours.

In addition, I'd suggest browsing a couple of husky-dedicated websites or forums. Chances are, you aren't the only one that's run into this kind of situation. Husky fanatics probably have loads more of information than we do.

Sigh... Huskies... Beautiful dogs, but so hard to keep --' They need lot's and LOT'S of free space, and there's no alternative to that... Unless you do sledging with them. They also have the tendency to find a way out and in every backyard, since they are clever dogs. I'd recommend searching a new home/give to a farm, another solution is to go do something with her that involves her running around alot (maybe look on the interwebs if you can find someplace like a club for a certain dog sport?) I don't know what you can do with a Husky for sport, but I sure recommend Agility as one of the better.
Hope this helped
-Henda

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I have a dog named Mady. She is a Husky Mix and is really bad. She likes to bring stuff in our yard, like the neighbor's cat...poop. Plus she chases that same cat. It's happened twice and I feel bad since they had a newborn baby. Willy, my other dog, always follows her and also gets in trouble. He would not act like that if she was around. I thinking that it would be nice to give Mady a home away from roads and lots n' lots of space to run.

Here is where you can help me. Do you think I should give her to a farm...or keep her?

Everything would help. Thanks.
