Anubis saw between his paws as Bos retreated from his position, wincing in pain. For the moment, there was one dog down, one to go. But before he could even follow up on his actions and confront Viator, she was already jumping on top of him, capitalizing on the moment to pin him down. Anubis lunged to get up off of the ground as quickly as possible, yet the greyhound had caught hold of him before he could rise, pushing his body back down hard with a thud. Dirt kicked up in tiny clouds from his back hitting the earth. He was caught under tight pressure, but his front paws had remained in front of his maw. He now tried to use them to push against Viator's body in order to create some distance between them. He wasn't completely pinned yet, but he certainly didn't possess the same control from the ground as he had before. Pushing hard with his paws against Viator, he began to bark again. He was not happy. His mind was in such disarray that he almost couldn't think of an insult. "Da friggin', furgin', daah...piece of shit!" He meant his fragmented speech in the most friendly way he could. With each provoked bark came slober slewn from his maw.

Bos had to work harder to dodge the dogs shots, they were more controlled and aimed, no longer wild and random. Concern flashed across the greyhounds face when he saw the pain on the Cairns face as a result of his paws landing on him. He knew he couldn’t permanently hurt or fatally injure with this move, he was too light and not heavy enough to break his chest. He yelped in surprise in pain as he was struck in the genitals, and he leapt back, whining in the back of his throat. Viator winced at the move that had been landed on her fellow Greyhound. She saw him leap back from the Cairn, and took her chance, seeing the Cairn with his paws in front of his eyes, blocking his sight. She lunged forward, hoping to pin him to the ground and score a wound on him.

Anubis started to control his strikes, making them more into accurate punches then flailing paws. His determination to take down this larger dog never ceased, the wild look on his maw altering more into a face of focus as time wore on. He knew he had to switch up what he was doing soon before his energy gave out and he was left on the ground with a body unable to fight on. Bos snapped at him, yet Anubis's face never moved out of its path, watching the greyhound's jaws come uncomfortably close to his face as he threw his final blows. Viator was no longer Anubis's peripheral field of view, but he could hear faint breaths moving towards the two dogs. What he had not seen in the quick turn of events was Bos's legs coming down. The greyhound's legs put a hard impact on the Cairn. Landing on his upper chest, Anubis had the wind knocked out of him, and lost his rhythm of breathing as he closed his eyes momentarily in pain. Luckily, the slender, finesse legs of a greyhound were not thick like that of other large dogs, otherwise the blows might have crushed his chest.

He had to get up now, before he could be surprised again. Quickly trying to regain himself, he moved his right hind leg from its steady position, while leaving the other still balanced on Bos's leg. Pushing his pelvis upward, he gave a strong, swift kick towards the genitals with his right leg, while holding his forepaws in front of his eyes for protection. Immediately, he kind of felt ashamed for attempting such a thing. It seemed like a cheap shot, whether he hit anything or not (he couldn't tell if he kicked the dog or not; he couldn't even move his head down to see). But he couldn't regret it now. Not in the middle of sparring.

Bos growled as he was held back. He barked and snarled, fighting to get close. He yelped as he was scratched by the tiny dog. He jerked his head back to protect his eyes and ears. He reared back, hoping to bring his front paws down on the dog, but knowing it would probably fail. He brought his head forward to snap once, so that Anubis wouldn’t see his legs coming down.

Viator slipped forward, moving out of the way incase Bos was tossed back towards him with Anubis’s hind legs.

The sound Anubis had made evidently turned a few heads; his act of dropping on the ground like a fainting goat did not help in giving answer to the dogs’ confusions. Those zipperheads probably think I’m a frickin’ loon, he thought. His mind almost began to drift from what he was doing just to make it be known that he had these greyhounds right where he wanted them. He didn’t care much of what they thought of him; he just didn’t want someone superseding his duties because they thought he was a little “off”. He would demonstrate his tactic soon enough.

As Bos leapt at Anubis, he used his back legs to steady his opponent from his hinds, keeping him from getting too close on top of him. He could smell the warm, stank breath of the other dog, saliva being thrown everywhere with each bark between the two fighters. With Bos now above him, he threw his paws wildly at the greyhound’s head, neck, and chest. Anubis, in blind fury, scratched and pounded at the dog that stood above him. Long, loose cowlicks of wiry hair blocked fragments of his vision as he continued to move his legs quickly. It did not affect his actions, for he knew to aim towards the most vulnerable positions on the greyhound: his arched neck and his acute eyes. The Cairn made sure to watch for the dog’s front legs as well; if they came to close to him, he would try to push off them or grab hold of them. In fact, if Bos’s head were to get close enough to Anubis’s body, he might be able to wrap his legs around that.

Viator must have held back, for as far as Anubis could tell, she was not attacking him now. Maybe she was preoccupied, or at the least puzzled over what was happening. If Anubis could find the strength within himself, if he could further harness the adrenaline that burned out of every pore in his being, he may be able to knock Bos into the unsuspecting dog. If worst came to worst, he still knew another way on how to get Bos up off of him…

Blue smirked at Kane's response. She said nothing about the land, but nodded in agreement - it was such a different view, so soft and green, compared to the hard and greyness of the city that they all once knew. She knew that Kane was born in another place, as was she, but they all had been through the city's machinations and suffered the same horrors. It was those horrors that brought them to where they were standing now. Making a home away from home. Her smirk vanished as he spoke of travelers, and she nodded her head once again. It was always a good sign to see that her trust in Kane was confirmed; she knew that Jack would have dealt with him personally if he had let any wolves sneak past his guard. Drake's tail touched her leg and her lip curled in annoyance, but saw that the Karelian was only going to lie in the shade, and she let it go. His fur was still thick with sand from the desert, and in this heat, she couldn't blame him for needing a break. And, now she and Kane could discuss the matters of the pack in private.

"Slowly but surely, they are coming together," she replied very matter-of-factly. "A lot of them seem to have it in their heads that there's no need to work together. They think that if we work together, we are no different from the wolves. Most, I doubt, have ever worked with dogs like you, me, or Jack. But I guess that's because we've always been the smart ones." To say that they were the ones that always sought out a home with another pack was an understatement. Dogs in the city never did well on their own - all too often, they were slain by cars, captured by cruel animal control officers, or put down for being too "aggressive" in a residential neighborhood. When dogs were alone, they were truly alone, always having to watch their backs wherever they went. But if they ran with dogs like them, dogs they could trust... An irreplaceable bond was formed, and this was exactly the goal that Blue had in mind for all of the dogs sparring below them.

"Jack sent me on a scouting mission to a valley eastward of here. He wants me to look for more dogs to join us. I came across one, a husky. I told her to remember my name, and what we had to offer. If you see her, wish her a warm welcome," she said to the Rhodesian. It was information she had yet to tell Jack, but the German Shepherd was obviously very busy at the moment. "But only her. Any wolves must be dismissed," she said this in a cold voice. They were not her rules, but she was present to enforce them, remind Kane of his duty. "I must go now. Stay out of the sun, get some sleep. Depending on how the battle royale goes down below, you may be getting a partner."

She tipped her dial in dismissal and headed for the resting Drake. "Come. The borderlands are no place for a newcomer. We will head to headquarters, where you will find plenty of fresh water to drink," she said, not as warm as last time, business on her mind. She bumped Drake's rump with her nose, gentle and rousing, in case he had fallen asleep. The shade was cool on her midnight coat, and she couldn't blame him if he had fallen asleep. She led him down the rocky slope littered with boulders, fallen logs, and northwestern ferns, passing the spar between Jack and Nikita along the way.

Nikita had somehow wormed her way beneath Jack's broad frame, appearing to use all her strength to unbalance him. However, it was clearly not enough. Jack wrapped his front paws around her lithe form, and then rolled his weight; he was aware of how close her muzzle was to his underside, but if he could literally "throw" her away from underneath him, he would be able to dominate her entirely. It was a gruff move, one he used in combat with Doberman dogs many times in the cage fights, who always seemed to have a fascination with tearing out his underside. Nikita was lighter than them, but of the same size; if the tactic worked, he would have her at a disadvantage.

When Viator saw Anubis fall into that position, where he was on his back, she frowned. What the? Bos, not seeing Viator’s confusion, leapt forward, hoping to strike the terrier. Viator’s eyebrows kept together as she waited to see the result. She heard another dog approaching. She heard the heavy footfalls of a larger sized dog, and, when she smelled him, she looked up, breaking her rhythm. She met his gaze, seeing the exhaustion on him, and could tell the heat was affecting him. She tilted her head, an odd combination of curiosity and anger.

Drake wanted to go meet the other dogs in the pack, including the alpha named Jack. He flicked his tail aganist Blue, telling her through body language that he was going on. He troted a long and watched beside him from time to time for Blue and/or Kane. He looked up at the sky, and saw the bright sun beating down upon his black and white coat. He quickly jogged to get out of the heat, even though he was use to it, because of the barren desert of the Lone Lands.

There was a tree up ahead and he was glad he could get out of the heat for once, unlike his old home. He layed down as he watched some of the clouds, moving slowly, like a turtle. Before he could watch them move again, a bansee-like noice made the Karelian Bear Dog look in the way of the other dogs. He saw a terrier aganist two greyhounds. Drake watched the terrier lay on his back, ready to attack at any given moment he could. Drake did like to spar, but the heat of him walking here made him too tired, but once he gets his energy back, he might try someone.

Anubis saw that Bos and Viator were keeping cautious of their distance, still avoiding his clacking jaws. He could see it in their beady orbs: they enjoyed this. For some reason, that made him more angry than he already was. Now was the time to execute. He waited for the perfect alignment of the two greyhounds, where one stood directly in front of him while the other was behind him. A fire was set ablaze in his brown orbs, setting everything in his mind up in flames. Hair bristled in wirey strands, making his body seem larger. Anubis let out a bansee-like snarl that sounded as if it should have not come from any little canine. In one fluid motion, he rolled flat on his back, holding his legs up in readiness, prepared to strike at any second. It looked like a mistake; it looked like he would be overtaken. But from this position he still had adequete protection of his head, neck, and body. It would be difficult to attack him without getting pumbled wildly by angry paws, and he could even possibly use one greyhound to block the other from even touching him.

Whenever he came near to biting, Bos or Viator would brake rhythm for a moment to move out of the way, only to continue to circle. When his snarls and barks increased in pitch and loudness, theirs rose to meet it. They made sure to get close enough so they could reach in a test, to see if they could try and attack, but far enough away that they could dodge easily. A glint came into their eyes. They loved fighting. Even if it was a spar, they loved it.

Anubis witnessed Viator sail over him. He was spared for the moment. Yet he noticed the bleeding wound on the top of her head. His lip twitched sideways. He definately didn't like these two, not yet anyway, but as a packmate he still showed the slightest concern for their safety. She was evidently fine, because her and Bos had begun to encircle him in a short amount of time without skipping a beat. As the greyhounds circled closer, Anubis resumed his harsh bark-like snarls, now snapping his jaw hard towards them in an effort to keep their distance from him. He had no intention to bite them, but his jaws were knicking very close to their moving bodies. He had to do something, and fast. Unable to escape the masses suffocating his space, he decided to let the greyhounds to get in striking distance. He had an idea. Probably not the safest idea for him, but nevertheless an idea.

She yelped in surprise as she missed, nearly hitting Bos. He dodged, and she hit the ground with a hard thud. Bos began to snarl, circling Anubis while Viator gained her bearings. She had landed head first, her weak legs not being able to support her. She groaned, staggering to her feet. A lump in the middle of her forehead was oozing blood slightly, but she was fine. She began to circle with Bos, snarling in harmony. There circle began to tighten until they were nose to tail, barely any space for Anubis to move. They made sure to keep low to the ground so he couldn’t run between their legs.

Anubis was a bit thrown off by Bos's return growl. Moments ago he had been laughing at him, and now once Anubis made a stand, he was standing his ground in near-seriousness. By pure chance, Anubis's eyes wandered for a split second. And there above him was Viator, descending fast on top of him. There was no way he could move out of the path at this point. But, in a valiant, last-ditch effort, Anubis brought himself back by placing energy on his back legs and crouched himself in a rigid, ready position with his belly nearly on the ground. He was ducking down, hoping Viator might miss his form and run into Bos. In the direction she was headed, it seemed very possible, and it seemed very hard to try and hit Anubis if he was already practically on the ground. Even if she didn't hit Bos, at least her momentum moving in that direction could buy him some time.

Bos mimed laughing, making the sound softly. He hadn’t laughed in a while, and it sounded dry and rusty. Viator’s eyes nearly glowed with her happiness when she saw Anubis be sent into the air and onto his back with the force of the hit. She waited to make sure he wasn’t hurt, but barely enough time to check. Her eyes swept over him once, and she bared her fangs. She crouched low to the ground, ready to pounce. She made sure she would make no sound, as a sneak attack is ruined by sound. She leapt into the air, hoping to land on him. Bos let out a snarl to Anubis, hoping to draw his attention.

Anubis and the skinny skull of the greyhound collided with almost equal force, yet Anubis's rising body yielded to the impact. His small body tipped backward and he landed hard on his back. He quickly rolled and squirmed to rise back up, Bos still directly ahead of him. He still had plenty of energy, and for the most part he still had a sense of direction, yet he had no idea Viator was behind him, ready to pounce. Glaring at Bos, his paws were constantly moving, ready to start propelling him in any direction. His snarls became more like angered barks, and his tongue lashed across the front of his now barred sharp ivories.

She growled angrily as he dodged, leaving her to land on the grass. Bos leapt away then shoved forward with his head, hoping to knock the small dog over, or at least detour him. If that worked, while Anubis was confused or distracted, Viator could leap on him, pin him to the ground. She slid around so that she would be in position to leap if it worked, or to try the next strategy if it didn’t. Her snarls were beginning to become continues as the fight went on. How could tall behemoths like them beat a tiny mouse like him?

Anubis had unfortunately went right under Viator and bypassed Bos in the process. He did not hit either of them. Skidding and cutting his pads to make a quick stop, he continued his motion and reeled right back at the greyhounds without losing a step. He felt ease in navigating between the legs of Viator as she pounced towards him, this time on purpose. It wasn't his agility that allowed him to do this; it was height that let him move untouched and unscathed. As he moved through Viator, he direct a charge at Bos, though this time he remained even lower to the ground so as not to be flanked or flipped. He was going to maintain such a low level until just before the point of impact, when he would try to strike upward with his paws and chest into Bos's middle without fully lunging at him. Maybe he could tip the greyhound, maybe he wouldn't. All the while, his snarls became louder and more slured.

Viator snarled in response to Anubis‘s growl, Bos baring his teeth behind her. When Anubis charged, Viator leapt over him, tucking her legs against her belly so they he couldn’t grab her legs. Bos dodged to the side, so that, when Anubis charged out, he would be out of the immediate path. Viator landed, wheeling on her hind legs so as to not loose sight of the ‘enemy’. She laid her ears back, along with Bos, and bared her teeth in a snarl.

She leapt into the air, pouncing towards Anubis in hopes to pin him beneath her paws, Bos tensed, ready to flip Anubis over if her plan failed.

Anubis had almost been too kept in the action of the others sparring that he nearly missed Bos and Viator's proposal to him. His mind was focused in another place. He looked back and forth from the matches to the two greyhounds, finally settling his light brown specs on the dogs who wished to challenge him. A determined look began to grow in his eyes, and his small paws started to involuntarily dig into the dirt beneath him, making tiny indentations in the ground like a bull preparing to stampede. His Scottish accent presented its normal angry tone. "So that's how this is going to be, eh? All right, ya foot fairies, I'll take you both on. No big challenge for myself; I've faced many an opponent wuth much more skill and finesse than I, yet I have overcome, and still lived to see the light of day." A harsh gutteral grow filled deep in his chest, characteristic of an angry terrier. He looked from greyhound to greyhound, letting his mind process and adapt what his first move should be. They were clearly taller than him; his crown barely reached above their stomachs. He wanted to do something that could potentially take both of them out at the same time.

So let's do this, he mumbled. Without warning, his paws burst from their ready position, kicking into a full sprint angled directly at Viator's legs. Though his own legs were quite small, they housed an enourmous amount of potential energy at a low center of gravity. The angle of his approach was meant to knock Viator over and into Bos, disorienting both opponents. Anbus's shoulder was heading an unstoppable motion straight into the greyhound's legs, his head tucked in so as to protect his neck. This spar was all fun and games, but he wasn't taking any chances. His hit would hopefully work as he planned, or otherwise he could easily navigate under Viator, whether he would intend to flip the dog from his underbelly or move between his legs and come out speeding into Bos. The whites of his eyes began to take over the light brown coloring, and teeth were slightly barred.

Pale golden eyes watched steadily ahead even when the Blue stepped up beside him. There was another following in her wake but it was just as well that he ignored the bru. His ears shifted and a his body subtlety greeted her. To those who didn't know him wouldn't notice it but the corner of his mouth moved up ever so slightly. "Been thinkin' about all this fucking green." Occasionally his words came out accented, more so on words that ended with -ing. Where he came from words were flavored differently. He noticed there weren't many of those like that around the city. All too pale. Taking a breath in he continued shooting a glance over at her follower. "Besides that nothing of much consequence. A few confused travelers but I set them firmly on their way." The small smile had disappeared long ago and his attention was focused on the spar. "And how progresses....other tasks.." His eyes flicked again to the other that was with her. The pack was slow progress but it was building slowly. Either the other packs weren't on to them or rumors were true and most didn't have the number to even bother with them.

Nikita would balk at his bucking paws, clever wolf...she thought to herself. His body turned on itself and he would snap at her, empty air and a low growl resonating. Instead of dancing out of the way this time she would duck her body low, exposing her shoulder to come up underneath his chest and hopefully be able to dart her muzzle in to touch his throat. She also shoved hard trying to unbalance him. She had taken down game much bigger than herself. She was no fool when it came to fighting. Sometimes you needed to sacrifice a little for the win. A soft growl subtle as the wind escaped her own throat.

Drake looked up at Blue, who was taller than him. She said that it was all right, but he knew that that was bad. He heard that speaking with her about joining was good. He nodded slightly and smiled a bit as he looked up at the sun as Blue had spoken of the hot sun and some shade. He nodded again, still looking at the sun and sky. He knew that a lot of heat was bad, but after living in the lone lands for some time, the heat was no problem. But shade would still be good for him. Drake knew when Blue flicked her tail, he knew to follow.

Blue had said something about someone named Kane. He was not listening that well. But he knew that this Kane was near. Slowly, he looked beside him with only using the corners of his eyes.

A small smile crept on Blue's lips, though it could scarcely be seen next to her equally dark coat. She could see that the dog was lost, as many were when they stumbled upon their wooded lands. "It's all right, really," she said, stepping more into the light. The humid spring sun beat down upon her, but it was nothing compared to the thick smog of the City in summer. "And speaking with me about joining is fine. Jack and I work as a pair, though we are not mates. Come into the shade, it's too hot to be out in the sun." She turned and motioned with her tail to follow, where the tall trees with their big, budding leaves would make things much more bearable. She sensed that Kane was near, his dark gold form visible against the bright greenery of the bushes and ferns. "What are you thinking of now, Kane?" she asked, cobalt eyes curious. It had been a while since she had seen him, and she - or Jack, really - needed to know if any wolves had tried to get in.

Across the way, Nikita flew over Jack's head, seeming to pull her legs up like a bird. She was a quick one, all right. Instead of taking another snap at her, the shepherd withdrew, pulling his neck in tight and swiveling around in time to see her do a dance of sorts. How interesting. He waited before lunging in, watching her feint one way, and then try and come at him from behind, for his hamstrings. He waited until she came close and then bucked his back paws at her, like a moose or goat would when being attacked from behind. Though his claws were sharp and his pads large, it wasn't a move meant for lethal damage, but more to catch her off-guard. It wasn't until he bucked did he swivel around and snap at her, jaws clapping the empty air; he did not want to rip her to shreds, afterall... But scare tactics? Of course. A low growl rumbled in his chest, deep like a true beast of the wild...

OOC: Okay. Because Kips will be offline for a good amount of time, she said I could play Jacob for her. I'll only be playing Jacob to finish up the spar between him and Tauro, and then he will be wandering the borders.

Contact. Yes, he hit, but he did not knock the giant dog down. Jacob hopped backwards, light on his feet, seeing that a full-frontal attack would do him no good. Tauro was heavily muscled and guarded himself well... Then an idea came to him. It was a trick he and the red two-leggeds had practiced when hunting the mighty buffalo. The earth they stood on now was hard, baking in the sun, and Jacob watched as Tauro paused. "What are you waiting for?" he teased, tassel swaying behind him. "Why not squash me with that fat ass of yours?"

The Rhodesian stood at the edge of the commotion, every so often his eyes wandering off into the nearby forests. He was still getting used to all the freshscents. It was strange, it was almost as if he couldn't get enough of the scent in his nose. The hot lands where he came from smelled different. The beasts were muskier and the there was no moisture in the air. Closing his eyes he could see league after league of straw colored grass, opening his eyes everything changed back to some form of green or brown. Not that he minded it. It was certainly better than the city. Pollution and waste. That's all you would ever find in a place like that. Rubbing his nose against his foreleg he had no desire to participate in the spar. He knew Jack was just testing them, seeing what they could do. He had already proved his worth several times over and now was the time to relax. He had been securing the boarder making sure no one would mistake the markings at the edges. The wolf scent would fade in time and no one would be able to contest that this was their land. Kane stood and moved closer to Jack's spar, watching as he put the moves on that female..Nikkita.

Nikita would snake her head down and bump at his belly as she was rolled his own muzzle trying to tickle her own. Long legs came up and thrusted pushing him back. She rolled and as she did it was hard not to take a snap at one of his limps. She would aim for bumping it instead. "So are you." She said in heavily accented Russian. She loped around him once she was to her feet, feinting and then came at him from behing. Lunging her head in an attempt to mock hamstring him. A technique that worked not only for hunting but in fighting as well.

Bos and Viator both looked around, trying to find dogs to fight. They didn’t want to walk up to some big muscular dogs, because that would make them look like they thought they were big and could do whatever they wanted. They heard Blue mention Anubis fighting them, and they looked at each other and nodded. They both trotted over to the cairn terrier. “Hello Anubis.” Viator spoke up. “May we spar with you? We can do one-on-one or two on one. Your choice.” Viator let Anubis choose.

Drake looked around. For some time, no dogs had appeared to answer him. It seemed to be busy where ever the dogs where. As time went by, he worried about his action to come here to Hamara Sydan. He waited to head back to the Lone Lands or a new location to find his family members, his parents and sister. Drake never did. He took him forever to get here. Before he could howl again, a voice had come from the shadows. It told him that he should not howl, as it could make them think he was a wolf. But as Drake was going to answer, a blue-black figure appeared.

Her name was Blue. She was the beta of the Hamara Sydan pack. He nodded and listened on to when she asked for his name. Drake was a bit shy and timid when Blue appeared. He spoke as loud as he could without being really quiet," Um, sorry. I didn't think once about that howling could make it seem as I am a wolf. I'm Drake." He does his best friendly smile without making her think of him as a fool then continues to reply," Uh, one question. Who do I need to speak to get accepted to be in this pack?" He has hoped to be a warrior for his pack, but what ever Jack gives him, he will be happy just to be in the pack.
